Greg Norman targeting 7 LIV Golf signings

LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman revealed the upstart league is targeting as many as seven big-name signings ahead of the 2023 season.

Speaking to the media about his plans for next year, Norman confirmed he is plotting another raid on the upper echelons of the world rankings.

“We’re looking for seven players, something like that,” he said, before confirming he was eyeing stars in the top 20 of the rankings.

Earlier this week it was reported Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele are pondering a move to the Saudi-backed tour. Mito Pereira and Thomas Pieters are also thought to be on LIV’s radar.

Norman spoke of “liberating” those currently playing on the PGA Tour and insisted players on both sides of the divide “still talk to each other”.

However, he also pledged to remain loyal to the players who joined the tour for its first season.

“The percentage of players that will come back is probably – doing quick math – 85 to 90% of the players, I would say,” he said.

That divide between LIV and the status quo has only grown wider as the season has progressed.

Both sides have faced criticism – but Norman claimed the blame lies firmly on the side of the PGA Tour.
