Brooks Signs Katie Li to Letter of Intent

DURHAM – Duke University women’s golf head coach Dan Brooks has announced the signing of Katie Li on Wednesday in the early signing period.  Li will join the Blue Devils for the 2022-23 campaign as a freshman.

A product of Basking Ridge, N.J., Li is a five-time winner on the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) and three-time AJGA All-American.

“Katie Li will be a great addition to our team,” said Brooks.  “She has a wonderful, playful spirit about her.  She’s also very competitive.  I believe she’s the only recruit I’ve seen run down the fairway, just to hit her next shot.  That’s the sort of passion we’re looking for!”

Li has collected wins at the K.J. Choi Foundation Junior Championship by SK Telecom (2021), NJ Junior PGA Championship (2020, 2019), NE Series at Flanders Valley (2019) and AJGA Junior at Southpointe (2019).  She has also totaled 17 top-5, 24 top-10 and 34 top-20 finishes on the AJGA since 2019. Li has collected 15 rounds in the 60s during her time on the AJGA.

“Katie has great fundamental skills,” said Brooks.  “With this foundation, she’ll keep getting better – the sky is the limit.  I can’t wait for Katie to join our team!”

Li, who attends Ridge High School, advanced to the U.S. Women’s Amateur round of 16 this past summer.  She competed on the Wyndham Cup East team in 2022 and Junior Solheim Cup Team in 2021.  She was an AJGA All-America selection in 2022, 2021 and 2020, while earning Scholastic Junior All-American in 2022.
