KemperSports selected to manage Winnetka Golf Club and oversee renovation

KemperSports has been chosen to take over management duties for the Winnetka Golf Club in Winnetka, Ill. The company will also oversee an extensive renovation project for both the nine- and 18-hole public golf courses.

The renovation project already started and is being executed by course architect Rick Jacobson. Some features of the renovation will include releveling and resurfacing greens, tees and fairways; remodeling fairway and select greenside bunkers and improving overall drainage at both courses to better handle heavy storm events.

Winnetka’s nine-hole par-3 course began construction in August 2022, while the renovation for the larger 18-hole 6,500-yard course began on Nov. 1 after closing for the season. Both courses will remain closed for the duration of the 2023 season, with an expected opening date of summer 2024. In the meantime, the clubhouse and driving range, as well as other player development programming, will remain open and operational.

KemperSports plans to enhance the course offerings by improving the customer service and adding premier food and beverage offerings. Additionally, the club will join the Frequent Fairways Chicagoland program, an initiative from KemperSports that rewards local players for playing at other company-owned properties in the area.

“The Winnetka Golf Club has been a special part of the Winnetka community for more than a century, and we are proud to help Rick Jacobsen lead the restoration of such a prized local asset right here in our backyard,” said Steve Skinner, CEO of KemperSports. “The golf course has great bones, and this renovation will take it to the next level.”
