EAST LANSING, MICH. – Michigan State Athletics and PNC Bank are partnering to recognize the PNC Achievers Student-Athletes of the Month. Throughout the 2022-23 season, deserving Spartan student-athletes will be recognized for displaying well-rounded achievement through leadership in the classroom, in the community, and in competition.

The honorees for January were Charlotte Gisclon (women’s tennis) and August Meekhof (men’s golf).

Gisclon, a sophomore from Lyon, France, is a business preference major. In her first season in East Lansing, she was third on the team with 12 singles victories, playing out of the No. 5 and 6 slots in the lineup, while also picking up eight doubles wins. This fall, Gisclon went 5-1 in singles, leading into the upcoming spring dual schedule. Off the court, she is her team’s SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) representative, in addition to being involved with community efforts such as Teams for Toys, and numerous food and blood drives.

“Since her arrival to campus, Charlotte has been a joy to have around our building,” said Kyle Williams, the Spartan women’s tennis academic coordinator. “Representing what it truly means to be a student-athlete, Charlotte has taken strides in her academic journey. Charlotte is on time to every tutoring session and meeting and is not afraid to reach out for help when she needs something. This past summer and fall Charlotte increased her GPA tremendously and as she continues her academic journey this will only keep rising.”

Meekhoff, a junior from Coopersville, Mich., is an interdisciplinary studies major. He had a breakout season last year, earning second team All-Big Ten Second Team honors and finishing second on a team with a 71.84 scoring average, which is fifth-best all-time at MSU. Meekhoff had four top-10 finishes including a tie for third place at the Big Ten Championships, earning all-tournament honors. He also was named a Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-American Scholar and an Academic All-Big Ten selection. In the community, Meekhoff has participated with his fellow teammates with Teams for Toys, Student-Athlete Food Drive and Operation Christmas Child.

“August worked very hard in the Fall semester to excel in his classes, while balancing a busy travel schedule,” said Hannon Roberts, the MSU men’s golf academic…
