Webb Named Assistant Coach for 2023 Arnold Palmer Cup

Tennessee men’s golf head coach and Canada native Brennan Webb has been named an assistant coach for the international team at the 2023 Arnold Palmer Cup matches, the GCAA announced Wednesday.

In its 27th year, the event will take place from June 8-10 at Laurel Valley Golf Club in Ligonier, Pennsylvania.

The Ryder Cup-style competition is set to feature top men’s and women’s collegiate golfers, matching the United States against a team of international players. The Arnold Palmer Cup is the only major tournament to feature men and women playing side-by-side as partners.

Under Webb, Tennessee is currently ranked No. 7 in the GCAA Coaches poll after a successful fall campaign that included back-to-back team titles at the SEC Match Play Championship and the Purdue Fall Invitational.

Overall, Webb has led the Volunteers to seven tournament victories and piloted UT’s first NCAA Championships berth in eight seasons in 2021.

As head coach, Webb has guided Tennessee to the match play portion of the SEC Championship and NCAA Regional qualification in each of his four seasons. Furthermore, he has developed three All-America honorees, six All-SEC selections, and guided six players to individual tournament titles—two of which came in the 2022-23 season from freshman Caleb Surratt and redshirt junior Bryce Lewis.

In addition to Webb, the international team features Kentucky women’s golf coach Golda Borst as head coach, and Minnesota women’s golf head coach Rhyll Brinsmead as a fellow assistant coach.
