Illini Set to open Spring Slate at Therese Hession Regional Challenge


CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illini women’s golf is set to compete in the Therese Hession Regional Challenge at Palos Verdes Golf Club, hosted by The Ohio State University, to open up its spring schedule. The three-day tournament will be played on Sunday, Feb. 12 through Tuesday, Feb. 14.

THE SETTING

The Therese Hession Regional Challenge is held at Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes, Calif. The course was designed by architects George Thomas and William Bell in 1924. The course will be set up for a par 71 and will play 6,017 yards long.  

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

There will be 16 teams competing in the 54-hole tournament. Sunday and Monday tee times begin at 11:00 a.m. CT off of No. 1 and No. 10, while Tuesday has an 10:00 a.m. CT shotgun start.

THE FIELD

Along with the Illini, the 16-team field for the Therese Hession Regional Challenge will include Arizona, Baylor, Florida, Georgetown, Kentucky, Ohio State, Oregon, Pepperdine, San Jose State, SMU, Stanford, Texas, UCLA, Southern California and Washington.

No. 5: Mattie Frick

ILLINI AT THERESE HESSION REGIONAL CHALLENGE

This will be the first time that the Illini have competed in the Therese Hession Regional Challenge.

Live scoring for the Therese Hession Regional Challenge will be available on Golfstat.com. A recap and results will be posted on FightingIllini.com following each day of play.

UP NEXT

The Illini will return to action on Monday, Feb. 27, where they begin play at the ICON Invitational at the Golf Club of Houston in Houston.
