Cal’s Aaron Du Looks To Defend Individual Title In Kaua’i

BERKELEY – The California men’s golf team will look to build off a promising start to its 2023 spring season at the 46th annual John A. Burns Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Hawai’i at the Ocean Course at Hokuala on Thursday through Saturday.

Golden Bear junior Aaron Du, the tournament’s reigning individual medalist, is back to defend his title and is among eight Cal golfers who will compete in the three-day, 54-hole event in Lihu’e, Kaua’i. Du won last year’s individual title with a 13-under 203 and became Cal’s fifth individual medalist at the Burns; only New Mexico has more medalists at the tournament (6). Cal additionally won the Burns team title five consecutive years from 2011-15.

The Bears most recently finished third at the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate in Tucson on Jan. 30-31, placing only behind No. 11 Texas A&M (-36) and No. 22 Arizona (-33) with a 23-under 841. The 841 was Cal’s best 54-hole score since shooting 836 at last year’s Cabo Collegiate on Feb. 27-March 1, 2022.
