LA QUINTA, Calif. – Three members of the Washington men’s golf team finished up their first round at The Prestige at PGA West individual tournament, with Husky Robert Galligan in contention in the 49-man field.

Galligan, a junior from Dublin, Ireland, was in the top-three until an untimely double-bogey on the 18th hole dropped him to a tie for 12th. Prior to that, he’d played the course at 3-under through 17 holes, including four birdies and one bogey. HIs fourth birdie came on No. 17, moving him into the top-five.

Galligan finished with a 1-under 71, good for a tie for 12th, four strokes back of the leader and still just two back of a tie for third.

Freshman Patrick Hong finished the day tied for 23rd at 1-over, finishing strong with birdies on his final two holes.

Sophomore Aidan O’Hagan finished the day 2-over, good for 28th place. He carded two birdies and four bogies in his round.
