CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – A trio of Fighting Illini alumni played through last weekend to solid finishes, and the Illini on the PGA Tour are slated to take center stage in Week 8 at the 2023 golf schedule rolls on.

Thomas Detry and Nick Hardy were both in action at the Genesis Invitational at The Riviera Country Club, with Detry continuing the momentum of his recent play to finish in a tie for 33rd.

Detry, 18th in the FedEx Cup Rankings, has now made the cut in each of his first nine events to open the 2022-23 PGA Tour season.

Both Detry and Hardy now trek from the West Coast to the East Coast where they will tee off Thursday at The Honda Classic on The Champion course at PGA National Resort Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

Meanwhile, on the PGA Tour Champions, Illini golf legend Steve Stricker came up just shy in his bid for a 13th senior-circuit victory, but didn’t miss by much as he tied for second at the Chubb Classic.

Stricker opened his 2023 slate with a win last month at the Mitsubishi Electric Championship, and has recorded five victories, plus four additional runner-up finishes, in his 14 events since last May when he returned to the course following a sixth-month absence due to illness.

The next PGA Tour Champions event, the Cologuard Classic, is set for March 3-5 at Omni Tucson National in Tucson, Ariz.

Korn Ferry Tour

Brian Campbell made his second straight cut to open his 2023 Korn Ferry campaign, and tied for 17th at the Astara Golf Championship in Bogota, Colombia.

It marked Campbell’s best finish in his last 13 Korn Ferry Tour events dating back to his tie for eighth at the 2021 BMW Charity Pro-Am.

The next Korn Ferry Tour event, the Club Car Championship, runs March 23-26 at for March 3-5 at The Landings Golf & Athletic Club in Savannah, Ga.
