Dustin Johnson, Adidas end 15-year relationship

Dustin Johnson and Adidas have been together for most of the former world No. 1’s career. Now, they go their separate ways, according to a report.

ESPN was first with the news, indicating that Johnson desired to end the relationship to focus on growing the 4Aces GC’s brand, his team in the LIV Golf League. The split was reportedly an “amicable separation.”

“We’ve mutually agreed to part ways with long-time Adidas athlete, Dustin Johnson,” Adidas Golf president Jeff Lienhart said in a statement to ESPN. “For more than 15 years, Dustin has been a great ambassador for the Adidas brand. We’ve had a front-row seat to see him win multiple major championships, ascend to the No. 1 ranking and cement himself as one of the best golfers in history — all while wearing the 3-Stripes. We wish Dustin nothing but success moving forward.”

ESPN also confirmed through a company spokesperson that Adidas did not renew its contract with another LIV member, Sergio Garcia.

Golfweek reached out to Adidas for comment but has yet to hear back.

In seven LIV starts last year, Johnson failed to finish inside the top 10 just once. He captured the title at the Boston stop at The International. He also won the season-long points title while his 4Aces won the team title.
