MELBOURNE, Florida — Lauryn Nguyen finished in the Top-5, and Dianna Lee earned a Top-10 spot, to lead Northwestern to a second-place finish at the 2023 Moon Golf Invitational on Tuesday at Suntree Country Club’s Classic Course.

Nguyen sandwiched rounds of 68 around an even-par 72 to finish 8-under for the tournament and tie for fifth. After 54 holes she ranked in the Top-5 in scoring on both the Par-3 and Par-4 offerings at Suntree, and the reigning Big Ten Freshman of the Year has finished in the Top-5 in back-to-back events this month.
Nobody in the field was hotter down the stretch than ‘Cats rookie Dianna Lee, who birdied 10 of her last 24 holes to rocket up the leaderboard and secure a Top-10 result. Her final day 67 was Northwestern’s best round of the competition.

The runner-up team finish is Northwestern’s second-straight Top-3 to open the spring season, after a third-place result at the UCF Challenge where the purple quintet finished in a tightly-packed trio with the #2 and #11 teams in the nation, and ahead of five squads ranked ahead of the ‘Cats at the time.
Northwestern is next in action at the elite Darius Rucker Intercollegiate February 27 – March 1 in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Golf Channel will provide live coverage of the event from 1:30-4:30pm CT on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
