HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Fresh off its spring season-opening tournament just five days ago, the Alabama women’s golf team returns to action this week at the annual Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. The three-day, 54-hole annual event will be played Monday through Wednesday, Feb. 27-March 1, and is hosted by South Carolina at the par 71, 6,281 yard Long Cove Club in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
All three days of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate will be televised live on Golf Channel, 1:30-4:30 p.m. CT.
Alabama will tee off in the first round Monday at 10 a.m. CT (11 a.m. ET) on hole No. 10, and will be paired alongside Georgia and Virginia.
Alabama Lineup
- The Alabama lineup will consist of Sarah Edwards, Benedetta Moresco, Emilie Øverås, Kynadie Adams and Isabella van der Biest
- Edwards led the Crimson Tide at last week’s Moon Golf Invitational with her third top-20 finish of the year as she tied for 17th overall with a 4-under par 212
- She ranks second on the team with a 72.78 per round average and a +0.78 stroke average, while leading the team in rounds in the 60s (4) and rounds of par or better (9)
- Benedetta Moresco carded two rounds of 1-under par 71 last week and continues to lead the Tide in scoring average (72.61) and average vs. par (+0.61), while her nine rounds of par or better matches Edwards for tops on the team
- Emilie Øverås, who cracked the UA starting lineup for the first time this year in last week’s Moon Golf Invitational, makes her second-straight start this week
- Kynadie Adams and Isabella van der Biest round out the Tide’s starting five
Tournament Preview
- The Darius Rucker Intercollegiate is hosted annually by South Carolina
- All but two teams in the 18-team field are ranked among the updated top-50 teams in the nation according to Golfstat.com, including 12 teams in the top 25 and six inside the top 10.
- Joining No. 46 Alabama will be No. 12 Arizona State, No. 31 Arkansas, No. 15 Auburn, No. 9 Baylor, No. 30 Duke, Furman, No. 32 Georgia, Howard, No. 23 Kentucky, No. 6 LSU, No. 19 Northwestern, No. 3 Oregon, No. 4 South Carolina, No, 8 Texas, No. 13 Virginia, No. 20 Vanderbilt and No. 2 Wake Forest.
