Men's Golf Finish Fourth In Southern Highlands

Illinois shot 11 under par in the final round to win the Southern Highlands Collegiate Tuesday in Las Vegas. Carolina led after each of the first two rounds but shot 4-over 292 in the third round to drop to fourth place behind the Illini, who finished 21 under, Pepperdine and Texas.
The Tar Heels finished 16 under, five shots behind the Illini. Pepperdine was 18 under and Texas finished 17 under. Oklahoma was fifth at -15.
David Ford (69-69-70) and Austin Greaser (64-70-74) were among five players who tied for fourth place in the individual standings at 8-under-par 208. Ford shot 2-under 70 today, the only Tar Heel to play the final round under par. 
Peter Fountain (72-71-74) tied for 35th at 2-over 217, Dylan Menante (68-79-74) finished 53rd at 5-over 221 and Ryan Burnett (70-75-77) tied for 54th at 6-over 222.
Florida’s Yuxin Liu shot 64-70-69 to win medalist honors at 13-under 203.
The Tar Heels return to action March 27-28 at the Valspar Collegiate in Palm City, Fla.
