Women's Golf Ranked 7th in Golfstat Rankings

STARKVILLE – Golfstat, the leading ranking system in collegiate golf, announced their top 25 rankings on Tuesday. For the second consecutive week, Mississippi State is ranked seventh in the country.

Golfstat uses Relative Rankings to calculate their rankings each week. Relative Rankings compare each team, one-on-one, against every other team in the country. A percentage value is applied to every one of those decisions. MSU clocks in with a 267/273 comparative record against the field for a 91.20% relative percentage. State holds a 13/16 comparative record against the current top 25.

Mississippi State is one of four schools currently ranked inside the top 25 with three or more tournament wins this season. The Bulldogs went back-to-back in the Mason Rudolph Championship and Blessings Collegiate Invitational. Most recently, State captured the team title at The Show in Las Vegas to end their February schedule.

Looking around the Southeastern Conference, the Bulldogs are joined by fellow members South Carolina (4th), LSU (6th) and Texas A&M (10th) in the Top 10.

This weekend, MSU will face four teams ranked within this week’s top-25 in the 51st VyStar Credit Union Gators Invitational from Gainesville, Fla. State will be joined by No. 16 Arizona, No. 17 Ole Miss, No. 22 UCLA and No. 25 UCF in the field. Looking at the top-50, host Florida is 27th with Clemson (32nd) and NC State (36th) rounding out the ranked squads appearing in Gainesville this weekend.

Individually, six Bulldogs are ranked in this week’s Golfstat Top-250 Individual Rankings. Julia Lopez Ramirez leads the pack, moving up a spot into seventh. Izzy Pellot comes in within the top 100 this week (94th) after picking up back-to-back top-10 finishes within the first two events of the spring. Hannah Levi is 103rd  this week after finishing third shooting 6-under par (210) to earn her seventh top-five finish in Vegas. Abbey Daniel moved up three spots to 128th. Surapa Janthamunee made the biggest jump of the week, moving up seven spots to 151st. Rounding out the individual rankings is Ashley Gilliam at 210.
