Wildcats Take On Loaded Field in Cabo Collegiate

CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico – No. 19 Arizona Men’s Golf will compete in the Cabo Collegiate for a fifth consecutive season, teeing off on Sunday, March 5 at Twin Dolphin Club. The Wildcats are part of a loaded field in the 2023 edition of the event featuring 10 programs ranked in the top 25 of the national rankings, including the top four programs in the nation.

“After consecutive runner-up finishes in our last two events, I feel very good about what the week will bring for us,” said head coach Jim Anderson. “We’ve had our entire lineup play some great golf throughout the new year, which gives us a great sense of confidence heading into this tournament. It’s a golf course we have prepared for and developed a game plan to attack, so it will be exciting to see us compete alongside with the other top programs in the country.”

Arizona’s best finish at the Cabo Collegiate came in 2020 when it finished in fourth place at 5-under par. During this five-year stretch of participation in the event, the top individual finisher has been Trevor Werbylo who shot 8-under to finish in fourth in 2019. Senior Chase Sienkiewicz was the team’s top finisher a year ago with a top-12 performance at 7-under.

The Wildcats are coming off a second-place finish at the John Burns Intercollegiate two weeks ago in Hawai’i with an impressive score of 36-under par. Newcomer Tiger Christensen finished the event in a tie for sixth at 13-under to lead all Cats in just his second event as a member of the program.
