Virginia Men's Golf | UVA Shares Lead After 36 Holes at Wake Forest Invitational

PINEHURST, N.C. – The No. 15 Virginia men’s golf team shares the lead after the opening two rounds of play at the Wake Forest Invitational at Pinehurst No. 2 in Pinehurst, N.C. The Cavaliers finished Monday’s play at 4-over 564 to sit atop the leaderboard with UNC Greensboro. UVA posted rounds of 7-over 287 and 3-under 277.

Virginia was led by the freshman duo of Ben James and Bryan Lee. They are tied for second place at 3-under 137, a single stroke behind tournament leader Nathan Petronzio of SMU. James had rounds of 70 and 67 on the par-70 Pinehurst No. 2 course while Lee shot 68 and 69. That combination led the Cavaliers at their season-opening Dorado Beach Collegiate last weekend. James as fourth while Lee placed 13th.

UVA’s other scores included a 4-over 144 (74-70) by George Duangmanee, 149 (73-76) by Chris Fosdick and 151 (78-73) by Deven Patel. Duangmanee is in 25th place, Fosdick is 45th and Patel is 54th.

Tuesday’s final round gets underway at 8:30 a.m. UVA and UNCG will be paired with third-place East Tennessee State. Live scoring is online at Golfstat.com.
