Vols Finish Tied for 11th at Cabo Collegiate

CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico – The 14th-ranked Tennessee men’s golf team wrapped up play in its second tournament of the spring Tuesday, finishing tied for 11th place at the Cabo Collegiate.

The Vols posted a 2-under team score in the final round to finish with a three-round total of 26-over. Tennessee’s round three team score was the second-best of any team in the field on Tuesday.

Freshman Caleb Surratt ascended 25 spots up the leaderboard after posting a round three 3-under 68 to get to 5-over for the event. Surratt finished one stroke out of the top 25 and tied for 29th place in the 79-player field. With his Tuesday score, Surratt has now recorded an under-par round in every tournament during the 2022-23 season.

Finishing two strokes behind Surratt was Jake Hall, who led Tennessee during each of the first two rounds. Hall logged an 8-over 79 on the final day to finish 7-over and tie for 38th place.

Giving the UT its second-best score on the final day, Laurent Desmarchais tallied a 2-under 69—his 12th round of par or better this season. The sophomore finished tied for 44th with a three-round total of 9-over.

Bryce Lewis contributed an even-par round to the Tennessee lineup in round three to get to 11-over for the tournament. The Hendersonville native tied for 51st place.

Providing the Vols with their last counting round on Tuesday was Evan Woosley-Reed, who shot 3-over in round three. The true freshman concluded the Cabo Collegiate tied for 60th place at 17-over.

Tennessee takes a two-week break from competition before returning to action at the All-American Intercollegiate in Houston, Texas, at the Golf Club of Houston on March 20.
