Alabama Women’s Golf Returns to Action at the Valspar Augusta Invitational


TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama women’s golf will compete in its third tournament of the spring season at the Valspar Augusta Invitational. Hosted by Augusta University, the two-day event opens with 36 holes Saturday and the final 18 concluding Sunday morning on the par 72, 6,244-yard Forest Hills Golf Club, located just three miles from the world-renowned Augusta National Golf Club.

The Tide will tee off in the first round of the event Saturday morning with a shotgun start at 6:45 a.m. CT on holes Nos. 4-7, paired alongside Duke and Minnesota.

The Lineup

  • The Tide’s lineup will feature Sarah Edwards, Benedetta Moresco, Emilie Øverås, Kynadie Adams and Isabella van der Biest
  • Taylor Kehoe will also be competing in the event as an individual
  • Leading the Tide in the past two events, Edwards carded four rounds of par or lower this spring and leads the squad with 11 rounds of par or better and four rounds in the 60s
  • Moresco (72.71) enters the event as one of two UA golfers who are averaging under 73.00 strokes per round, joining Edwards (72.81)
  • Emilie Øverås, who has competed in both events of the Tide’s spring season, has had all of her rounds contributed to the team score in each tournament
  • Kynadie Adams and Isabella van der Biest round out the Tide’s starting lineup for the event, respectfully  

Tournament Preview

  • The teams will compete in a five-count-four, stroke-play format with shotgun starts Saturday and Sunday
  • The Valspar Augusta Invitational features a 14-team field consisting of seven teams in the nation’s top-50 and four teams from the Southeastern Conference
  • No. 45 Alabama will be joined by No. 2 Wake Forest, No. 14 Florida State, No. 17 Oklahoma State, No. 19 Ole Miss, No. 21 Florida, No. 23 Duke, Augusta, Coastal Carolina, Furman, Georgia Southern, Minnesota, South Florida and Virginia Tech
