Women’s Golf Heads to Augusta for Valspar Invitational


DURHAM – For the first time since 2019, the Duke women’s golf team will return to the Valspar Augusta Invitational, which will be held at the Forest Hills Golf Club from March 11-12.  

All teams will play 36 holes on Saturday, March 11 followed by 18 holes on Sunday, March 12.  

Along with the Blue Devils competing will be Augusta, Alabama, Coastal Carolina, Florida, Florida State, Furman, Georgia Southern, Minnesota, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, South Florida, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.  

Duke will field a lineup of senior Erica Shepherd, junior Phoebe Brinker, junior Anne Chen, sophomore Rylie Heflin and freshman Andie Smith.

The Blue Devils last competed in the Valspar Augusta Invitational in 2019 as Duke turned in a 27-under-par ledger and finished second.  As a freshman, Brinker placed tied for second with a 10-under, 206, which featured a Duke freshman record 8-under, 64, in the first round.  The 64 remains tied for the fourth-lowest 18-hole score in Blue Devil history.  

All teams will open action on Saturday at 7:45 a.m., with a shotgun start.
