Adjustable clubs have been commonplace in golf for the last two decades, but very rarely in the irons. Until now.
Premium equipment manufacturer Edel Golf (opens in new tab) and its Swing Match Weighting system allows golfers, and fitters, to fine-tune irons to specific golfers and their swings like never before.
The irons feature two 2g weights and one 8g weight, although 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10g are available, and by moving the heaviest weight to its optimal position golfers have the ability to unlock total face control and experience increased distance, dialed-in accuracy and ultimate performance.
When fine-tuned after a fitting, the SMS system can eliminate right or left misses, improve face impact position, add distance and accuracy, and optimize performance all around. Every golfer delivers the club in their own different way and that’s where the SMS system comes in.
When the heaviest weight is in the wrong position, you’ll certainly know it, and likewise, when it’s in the optimal spot, you’ll know that you’ve found the right iron setup for your action. The SMS irons are the first irons to truly fit your swing.
Edel SMS Irons
The SMS irons (opens in new tab) are a players-distance club made from a forged hollow body construction with Edel’s proprietary urethane foam fill, which increases distance and helps to dampen vibrations for a better sound and feel. Great feel also comes from the soft forged 1025 carbon steel construction that is buttery soft through impact.
As well as feeling great, the SMS irons fly a long way too. An incredibly strong plasma welded maraging steel face cup gives distance from across the entire face thanks to increased face flexing on off-centered hits. That means golfers can experience fast ball speeds even when you don’t quite catch it out of the middle.
A versatile players sole grind has been developed on the SMS irons for greater turf interaction on different course conditions. A gradual curve of the leading edge makes them easier to hit from the rough and on tight lies. The sole’s curve from its leading to trail edge has been rounded to minimize drag through the turf and increase performance.
They’re a great fit for single figure golfers and mid-handicaps who are looking to find an iron to fit their swing so they can attack flags and shoot lower scores.
