St. Simons Island, GA – The Notre Dame Fighting Irish took home seventh at The Johnnie-O at Sea Island hosted by Rutgers in St. Simons Island, Georgia on March 13-14. In their second tournament of the 2023 season, Nate Stevens and Palmer Jackson were two of the top finishers for the Irish, finishing T9 and T22 respectively.
The Irish were in sixth after the first round on Tuesday, shooting 287 (+7) as a team. Owen Mullen was the Notre Dame leader after one, sitting in T2 after recording a 68 (-2) on the first 18. However, after the second round on Tuesday, the Irish moved up three spots to hold down third place heading into Wednesday’s round three.
Notre Dame finished with 12 fewer strokes as a team in round two to sit at 562 (+2) after two. Nate Stevens led the Irish at T3 with a collective score of 136 (-2) after shooting a 64 (-6) in round two. Owen Mullen was right behind him in fifth after shooting a 137 (-3) heading into Wednesday’s final round.
The Irish shot a 295 (+15) as a team in round three on Wednesday to fall to seventh in the Johnnie-O. Nate Stevens finished with a career-best T9, shooting a 75 (+5) in his final round of the tournament. Palmer Jackson finished T22 as he shot his best round today, shooting an even 70 round three and shooting a 214 (+4) on the tournament.
Notre Dame is back in action for the Schenkel Invitational (March 17-19) at the Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Georgia.
