STATESBORO, Ga. – No. 24 Mississippi State finished the first round of the 43rd annual Schenkel Invitational in second, shooting 4-under as a team. The Bulldogs combined for 18 birdies on the day while having to face difficult windy conditions.
“We showed a lot of grit and resiliency today,” head coach Dusty Smith said. “We got hit in the mouth hard early in the round but we chose not to panic and just kept playing golf. With that being said, we need to make sure we come out with confidence tomorrow and take the momentum we got at the end of our day into the round tomorrow.”
