SUNSET, South Carolina — Vanderbilt women’s golf started off its final regular season tournament of the year with a 4-over par, 292-stroke team performance Friday. The Commodores sit in sixth place after 18 holes. Host Clemson is in first place with a 7-under-par team total.
Freshman Lynn Lim–returning to the lineup for the first time in almost two months—led the Dores in the first round, notching a 2-under-par total that has her tied for sixth place individually.
“It’s really great having Lynn back on the lineup,” Vandy head coach Greg Allen said. “She looked really sharp today and played like she hasn’t been away from competitive golf since early February.”
Senior captain Celina Sattelkau finished even par in round one, tying for 14th place. Tillie Claggett—tied for 15th individually—carded a 1-over par 73 with four birdies on the day.
“I thought Celina and Tillie looked really good,” Allen said. “Tillie played with a lot of courage today as she was not feeling a hundred percent.”
Virginie Ding shot a 77 and Natasha Kiel rounded out the Vanderbilt lineup with a 79.
“Overall we need to be better around the greens. We gave away several shots with three putts,” Allen said.
Because of inclement weather, the Commodores tee off with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. CT alongside Kentucky, Maryland and Oklahoma State. Live scoring for the event can be found HERE.
