SUNSET, S.C. – The Illinois women’s golf team ended the Clemson Invitational in 11th after carding a final round total of 291 (+3) at The Reserve at Lake Keowee.

Crystal Wang won her first-ever tournament of her collegiate career, firing a final round 69 (-3) to earn a share of the individual crown with three others. Wang is the first tournament winner in program history since Tristyn Nowlin shared individual honors at the 2019 Schooner Fall Classic.

The Diamond Bar, Calif., native, birdied three of her last four holes, including the last two, to secure her co-medalist finish. It’s Wang’s sixth Top 10 finish of the season and her fifth Top 3 finish of the 2022-23 campaign.

Wang’s 12 total birdies were fourth-most in the tournament and her scoring average of 3.83 (-5) on par 4s was tied for the lowest mark among the field.

Isabel Sy finished tied for 37th after shooting a final round 74 (+2). Sy went 2-over on both the front and back, collecting a total of four birdies along the way.

Lexanne Halama finished tied for 51st after her final round of 75 (+3). Halama went 3-over on the back before shooting even-par on the front, putting together a stretch of three-straight birdies from 3 to 5.

Mattie Frick turned in her best round of the tournament, a 1-over 73 to finish tied for 54th. Frick tallied one birdie each on the front and back nine.

Siyan Chen finished 74th after her third round 76 (+4).

Ole Miss took home the team title at 8-under (856), with LSU (-7, 857) and hosts Clemson (-6, 856) rounding out the Top 3. LSU’s Ingrid Lindblad, Clemson’s Annabelle Pancake and Virginia Tech’s Morgan Ketchum all shared the individual title with Wang at 5-under.

The Fighting Illini will be back in action on April 15, when they travel to Columbus, Ohio, to compete in the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational.
