Wisconsin in 3rd after first day of The Hootie at Bulls Bay


AWENDAW, S.C. — After the first 18 holes of The Hootie at Bulls Bay, Wisconsin is in third place thanks to an impressive first round score of 277 (-11). The Badgers were led by Cameron Huss, who is tied for first place after carding a six-under 66. 

Round 1 – Sunday, March 26

Wisconsin started the tournament off strong, carding a 277 (-11) to complete the first round of play in third place, only trailing top-50 teams, East Tennessee and Purdue. 

Wisconsin’s first round score of 277 ties for the second-best 18-hole team score in program history, just one stroke off of the program-best. This round marks the third time Wisconsin has tallied a 277 at The Hootie at Bulls Bay, with the Badgers also doing so on March 28, 2022 and March 27, 2018. 

Cameron Huss led the Badgers, matching his career and season-low with a 66 (-6) to tie for first. Huss tallied seven birdies, including five in a row from hole two through six. 

Maxime Legros followed closely behind with a three-under 69 to T-17th, while teammates Max Schwarz and Coalter Smith also found themselves under-par with a 71 (-1) to T-29th. Clayton Tribus rounded out the lineup with a one-over 73 to T-42nd.
