TEMPE, Ariz. — With a final round 70 (-2) from senior Hailey Borja, the No. 33-ranked University of Michigan women’s golf team closed with a 297 team total today (Sunday, March 26) to post a 906 tally and finish 17th at the PING/ASU Invitational played at the Papago Golf Course.

Playing in one of the strongest fields of the season, which featured 10 teams among the Golfstat top 40, Michigan used an opening even-par 72 as well as a 74 (+2) from junior Monet Chun to post a 303 and position itself 15th after Friday’s action. With a second-round 75 (+3) from senior Anika Dy, the Wolverines followed with a 306 in the second round on Saturday and slipped to 17th with a 609.

Rallying from her second round, Borja used five birdies to pace the Maize and Blue in the final round with her team-best ninth sub-par score of 70 (-2). Adding another 75 by Dy as well as 76s from Chun and freshman Lauren Sung, U-M closed with a 297 to stay 17th with a final 906 total.

For the third time in four spring events, Borja finished as the top Wolverine as she tied for 50th at 224 (72-80-70), while Chun was two shots behind at 226 (74-76-76), putting her tied for 57th. With back-to-back 75s, Dy rounded out U-M’s top three as she tied for 70th at 229 (79-75-75).

The Wolverines will close the regular season when they head to Columbus, Ohio, Saturday and Sunday (April 15-16) for Ohio State’s Lady Buckeye. The two-day, 54-hole event will be…
