LOS ANGELES – The UCLA men’s golf team continues its spring schedule at The Goodwin at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco this week, beginning Thursday, March 30.
The three-day, 54-hole stroke play event will be set up as a 7,193-yard, par 70 layout. The field consists of 28 teams.
The Bruins will tee off for round one on hole one on Thursday at 8 a.m. (PT).
Lineup (1-5): Pablo Ereño, Omar Morales, Mason Greene, Alvaro Muller and Ty Griggs.
This marks Griggs’ second start of the season after the Bruins’ match play event versus Harvard on March 18. Griggs beat his opponent 4&3.
Field: No. 8 Stanford, St. Mary’s, BYU, California, Cal Poly, UC Davis, Florida Atlantic, UCLA, Fresno State, USC, No. 11 Georgia Tech, Colorado, Howard, Nevada, Lipscomb, No. 13 Oklahoma, Little Rock, Oregon, Mercer, San Diego, Northern Illinois, San Francisco, San Jose State, Utah, Santa Clara, Washington, SMU and Washington State.
Last Time Out
In their last organized tournament, UCLA finished fifth out of 15 teams at the Lamkin San Diego Classic at San Diego Country Club on March 7 with a score of 3-under 861 (287-286-288). It was the Bruins’ first under-par finish at a tournament this season.
Pablo Ereño led a trio of Bruins with top-20 finishes, tying for 12th at 3-under for the tournament (71-70-72). Sophomore Omar Morales and senior Mason Greene tied for 15th at 2-under. It was the first time the Bruins had three individuals finish under par for a tournament since Nov. 1-3, 2019, at the Ka’anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational.
Upward Trajectory
New Bruins’ head coach Armen Kirakossian has his squad gaining momentum this spring with a pair of top-5 team finishes to open the spring schedule (t-5th at the Southwestern Invitational and 5th at the Lamkin San Diego Classic). UCLA also defeated Harvard, 4-2, in a match play event on March 18.
