SAN FRANCISCO — The 2023 Goodwin tournament came to a close Saturday at TPC Harding Park, with senior Bo Peng collecting his best finish of the 2022-23 season, and the second highest of any Washington golfer this year.

“Great tournament from Bo, and I’m really proud of him,” said UW coach Alan Murray. “He has been steadily improving and I hope he takes great confidence from this.”

Peng had led all players for much of the tournament, but finished third behind champion Ben Lorenz of Oklahoma and runner-up Christo Lamprecht of Georgia Tech, whose teams also collected first and second-place honors at The Goodwin, respectively.

As a team, Washington totaled 849 strokes, shooting 9-over par and finishing tenth in the field.

Petr Hruby totaled three birdies in round three and climbed as high as third place in the standings during Saturday’s final round, eventually finishing 24th on the weekend.

“Petr had a putt on his 12th hole today to tie Bo for the lead,” said Murray. “These two guys had lots of great stuff this week.”

Taehoon Song posted three birdies in the final round of play, and ended the event tied with teammate Teddy Lin for 78th place. Joshua Koo was close behind them at 88th overall. Robert Galligan, competing as an individual, placed 117th.

The Huskies had a strong opening push in round three, moving up as high as sixth among contending teams early on, but the course proved challenging as the day wore on.

“Disappointed with our result, we had a good round going as a team, but we finished really poorly and made far too many mistakes on the back nine,” said Murray.

“If we roll up our sleeves, I know this experience will really help us moving forward.”

The next tournament for the Huskies is The Western Intercollegiate, scheduled for April 10-12 in Santa Cruz, CA.
