NAPA, Calif. – No. 15 Arizona Women’s Golf will make its return appearance in the Silverado Showdown in northern California, beginning on Monday, April 5. The Wildcats previously played in the event in 2017-18 as well as last season with third place finishes in both appearances. Sophomore Carolina Melgrati was Arizona’s top player in the event last season, finishing tied for sixth at 1-under par.
“We are looking forward to returning to this event where we have played well before,” said head coach Laura Ianello. “We weren’t happy with how things played out last week, and our team has been eager to get back into action. This team has shown a lot of resiliency and determination this season, and I believe it will show with strong scores in Napa.”
Arizona will welcome Melgrati back into the lineup this week. The Milan, Italy native missed the PING/ASU Invitational last week to participate in the prestigious Augusta National Women’s Amateur for a second consecutive season.
The Wildcats will feature a lineup of Melgrati and senior Gile Bite Starkute. Sophomore Sydney Bryan will also be a part of Arizona’s five players in action in addition to the freshman tandem of Julia Misemer and Nena Wongthanavimok.
Co-hosted by Colorado and Oregon, the Silverado Showdown field includes all of the Pac-12 women’s golf programs with the exception of No. 1 Stanford. Sixth-ranked San Jose State, No. 8 Texas A&M and No. 22 Northwestern round out the loaded field among others.
