Campos Atop the Leaderboard After One Round at Silverado Showdown

NAPA, Calif. – Zoe Antoinette Campos is in a tie for first place following a 5-under 67 in her first round at the Silverado Showdown on Monday. The UCLA women’s golf team is tied for fourth at 6-over (294) and trails first-place No. 16 Northwestern by 10 strokes.

Campos, who is coming off the first medal of her career last week at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic, is even with Arizona State’s Amanda Linner.

Campos recorded six birdies in her round and had a near-flawless scorecard until she bogeyed the par-5 18th. The Valencia, Calif. native has now recorded four consecutive under-par rounds.

Alessia Nobilio and Caroline Canales own the Bruins’ next best scores at 3-over 75. They are in a tie for 25th. Yuki Yoshihara (t-46th) was UCLA’s final counting score on day one with a 5-over 77.

UCLA will have a shotgun start for round two tomorrow, beginning at 8:55 a.m. with Annabel Wilson on hole six.
