East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State men’s golf completed its first day of play at the Redhawk Invitational in University Park, Wash. at the Chambers Bay Golf Course.
MSU shot a 6-over par 290 on the par-71, 6,989-yard course and sits in a tie for fourth place with North Dakota State.
Idaho leads the 17-team field at 2-under par 282, while Northern Colorado is in second place at 1-over par 285, George Washington is in third at 4-over par 288 with North Dakota State and Michigan State rounding out the top-five teams.
Senior Bradley Smithson shot an even-par 71 and is tied for 21st place to lead the Spartans.
Sophomore Ashton McCulloch, senior Drew Hackett and junior August Meekhof are tied for 30th place with scores of 1-over par 72, respectively.
Fifth year Troy Taylor II is tied for 51st place at 5-over par 76.
