Borrelli Ties For Second-Best Round Three Score
NAPA – The California women’s golf team improved for the second straight day to close out the Silverado Showdown, posting the fifth-best third round team score to finish in 10th place.
Graduate student Annika Borrelli led the way with a huge performance on the third and final day. The Alamo, Calif. native recorded the Golden Bears’ best round of the tournament with a 2-under 70, tied for the second-best mark among all 93 golfers on Wednesday. She finished as the Bears low scorer overall at 8-over 224, tied for 24th individually.
Borrelli’s big round saw Cal card an 8-over 296 as a team, just four strokes shy of the top round-three score shared by Texas A&M and UCLA.
Consistent as she has been all season, Mika Jin closed things out with a 4-over 76, tying for 35th individually at 12-over 228.
One stroke behind her was fellow junior Cristina Ochoa, who also came through with her best round of the tournament on Wednesday. She shot a 2-over 74 to tie for 43rd individually.
Freshman Olivia Lee had an identical round three score as Jin and contributed to Cal’s score for the second straight day. She was
