Stitch Intercollegiate Begins on Friday in Raleigh


RALEIGH – Duke men’s golf continues its regular season schedule on Friday and Saturday, as the Blue Devils make the short drive to Lonnie Poole Golf Club in Raleigh, N.C., for the Stitch Intercollegiate. The event has 17 teams competing, with the course set to play at 7,209 yards and to a par of 71.

Duke is joined in the field by hosts NC State along with Appalachian State, Boston College, Campbell, Clemson, Coastal Carolina, Davidson, Elon, Georgia State, High Point, James Madison, Maryland, North Carolina Central, Oklahoma State, Toledo and UNCG.

The Blue Devils start a lineup of Luke Sample, Ian Siebers, William Love, Kelly Chinn and Ethan Evans. Jimmy Zheng and Daniel Choi are also in the field, competing as individuals.

Duke is coming off its fourth under-par tournament of the season as a team, a 5-under, 847, at the Valspar Collegiate. Love led the way at the Floridian Golf Club, claiming his third top-10 finish of his freshman season with a seventh-place 8-under, 205.

The Blue Devils swept the Stitch Intercollegiate titles last season, with the team finishing at 3-under, 861, after the full 54 holes of play. Quinn Riley secured medalist honors for the first time in his career at 4-under, 212, for the event.

The first two rounds are set for Friday, beginning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Saturday’s final round also starts at 8:30 a.m., with groups, determined by standings, going off of holes No. 1 and 10. Live scoring is available on Golfstat.
