FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The 14th-ranked Tennessee men’s golf team is tied for second place through one round of play at the Mason Rudolph Championship.
The Vols shot 4-under as a team and were led by Bryce Lewis and Caleb Surratt who shot 3-under each and sit tied for third place in the 83-man field.
With Lewis’ round of 68 that entailed five birdies he is now tied for third place in program history of career rounds of par or better with 64.
Surratt’s round one score was his 20th par or better round this season, which ties him for fifth place in program history of par or better rounds in a season.
Competing individually, Lance Simpson shot a 1-under 70 in round one. The redshirt freshman sits just outside the top ten and is tied for 11th place entering the second round.
Jake Hall and Josh Hill provided the final counting rounds for the Vols in round one after firing a pair of 1-under 73. The duo currently sits one stroke out of the top 20 and are tied for 28th place.
Sophomore Laurent Desmarchais shot 2-over on Monday and is tied for 40th place.
