Golden Bears Close Regular Season With Second Tournament In Seven-Day Span
BERKELEY – The California men’s golf team faces a quick turnaround as it closes the regular season at the El Macero Classic on Friday through Sunday at El Macero Country Club, located just outside of Davis. The Golden Bears are one day removed from earning a third-place finish at the Western Intercollegiate in Santa Cruz.
All five Bears who will represent Cal at the El Macero Classic also played in the Western Intercollegiate. The quintet will be led by Aaron Du, who tied a Western Intercollegiate-low 18-hole record with a first-round 63 on Monday en route to a tie for sixth individually.
Cal’s lineup tees off hole 1 between 8:30-9:22 a.m. PT on Friday alongside tournament host UC Davis, UCLA and San Francisco.
The Bears are ranked 46th and 51st nationally by Golfweek and Golfstat, respectively, and have secured four top-five finishes in five spring tournaments played.
