Five Things to Know: Boilermaker Invite


MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin men’s golf is back on the road as they head to West Lafayette, Indiana to compete in the 19th annual Boilermaker Invite, hosted by Purdue. The Badgers will play a total of 54 holes between Friday, April 14, and Saturday, April 15 as they make their 16th appearance at the invite.  

Here are five things to know before the Badgers tee off:

1. Last Time Out: Wisconsin men’s golf last completed at The Hootie at Bulls Bay from March 26-28, where they placed 11th. As a team, the Badgers finished nine-under at Bulls Bay Golf Club, totaling a 277-289-289=855. Cameron Huss led the way for the Badgers, tying for 21st place overall with a six-under (66-70-74=210). Huss enjoyed a stellar first-round performance to tie his season and career-low with a 66. Teammate Maxime Legros trailed right behind with a five-under (69-71-71=211) to tie for 25th. 

2. The Course: For the just second year since the invite began, the Boilermaker Invite will be played on the Ackerman-Allen Golf Course. Designed by Pete Dye, the course offers a variety of landscapes, from rolling hills to tree-lined fairways and white sand bunkers. The invite will be played as a par 71 on 7,275 yards. 

3. The Tournament: The invite will be played on Friday, April 14 and Saturday, April 15, with 18 holes being played on Friday and 36 holes on Saturday. Following a morning practice round, tee off on Friday will begin at 1:30 p.m. CT with a shotgun start. Tee time for the second round on Saturday is set for 8 a.m. CT shotgun start with continuous play to head into the third and final round. 

4. The Field: Teams competing in the invite include Ball State, Butler, Eastern Michigan, Illinois State, IUPUI, Kent State, Loyola Chicago, Missouri, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Purdue, Rutgers, Southern Illinois, Wisconsin and Western Kentucky. In the lineup for the Badgers are Maxime Legros, Cameron Huss, Coalter Smith, Clayton Tribus and Graham Moody. Max Schwarz will also be joining Wisconsin as an individual competitor.
