COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Penn State women’s golf team resumes play after a month off at the Lady Buckeye Invitational on Saturday and Sunday in its final tune up before the B1G Championships next weekend.
The Nittany Lions will be making their second consecutive trip to the Lady Buckeye Invitational after finishing seventh last spring in their first appearance in the event in four years.
Penn State is coming off back-to-back top-6 finishes at the North Florida Invitational and the Briar’s Creek Invitational last month and look poised for another strong showing this week at the par-72, 6,319-yard Scarlet Course at the Ohio State Golf Club.
The Blue & White finished sixth at the UNF Collegiate to open March as the Nittany Lions climbed eight spots to finish sixth in the 17-team field after firing a final round 2-under, 286, at the Jacksonville Golf and Country Club. They backed that up a week later tying for fourth at the Briar’s Creek Invitational after firing the fifth-lowest round during a windy and cold Tuesday final round at the Golf Club at Briar’s Creek.
The format of the 2023 Lady Buckeye Invitational provides a great chance for the Nittany Lions to prepare for the B1G Championships next week as opposed to the normal five count four events they usually play, this weekend will feature the same six count four format used at the B1G Championships.
The field will also be Big Ten heavy as along with the Nittany Lions and host Buckeyes, 11 of the other 12 teams competing are from the Big Ten as Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Purdue, Rutgers and Wisconsin are also in the field with Kent State rounding out the 14-team field.
Play will begin on Saturday morning with 36 continuous holes following an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start and will conclude on Sunday morning with a second 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.

- The Nittany Lions competing this weekend remain consistent from events earlier this spring with senior classmates Mathilde Delavallade (Royan, France), Sarah Willis (Eaton, Ohio), Isha Dhruva (Katy, Texas) and Taylor Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) joining sophomores Drew Nienhaus (St. Louis, Mo.) and Michelle Cox (Allentown, Pa.).
