The Huskies completed the first of three rounds at Papago Golf Club with a team total of 294, six strokes over par, placing them eighth. Washington come out quickly, with nine birdies and an eagle, collectively on the first nine holes, and held the team lead for a portion of the round.

“We got off to a solid start but we were just not able to close,” said UW head coach Mary Lou Mulflur. “Tomorrow will be a better day.”
