ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – No. 18 Mississippi State is slated to begin the postseason at the SEC Championship in St. Simons Island, Georgia, on April 19-23. The conference tournament will be played on Sea Island Golf Club’s par-70, 7,005-yard Seaside Course.
Seven other SEC teams are in Golfstat’s Top 25 heading into play, including top-ranked Vanderbilt, No. 8 Auburn, No. 9 Florida, No. 13 Tennessee, No. 15 Texas A&M, No. 17 Alabama and No. 21 Ole Miss.
The Bulldogs enter the postseason after turning in one of their most successful years on record. State finished inside the top five in eight of nine tournaments, which is tied for the fourth-most top-five finishes in a season in school history. They also broke records for the lowest round as a team and the lowest 54-hole totals both by the team and an individual.
“I am excited for our team this week,” head coach Dusty Smith said. “This is what you work the entire year for—for opportunities like this. What matters to us is that we put ourselves in the arena with confidence and trust in one another. We are prepared for this moment.”
Ford Clegg, Ruan Pretorius, Garrett Endicott, Hunter Logan and Austin Vukovits make up the Bulldogs lineup for the SEC Championship.
Clegg (71.26), Pretorius (71.96) and Endicott (71.00) all ended the regular season with sub-72 stroke averages. Endicott and Pretorius each shot 18 rounds of par or better, tying each other for most on the team this year and fourth in MSU single-season history. Logan and Clegg sit right behind them with 16 rounds of par or better, which is seventh in program history.
Clegg also is one round away from tying Garrett Johnson (2016-20) for the most career rounds played in program history. He currently holds the records for the most career rounds in the 60s (40) and most career rounds of par or better (76).
Vukovits and Pretorius both won individual titles for Mississippi State this season, the first time the Bulldogs have had multiple individual medalists since the 2013-14 season. Pretorius’ and MSU’s individual and team wins at the Desert Mountain Invitational marked the first time State had a team and individual medalist in the same tournament since 2019.
Vukovits will tee off first for the Bulldogs at 7:50 a.m. CT from the No. 1 tee. Logan, Endicott, Pretorius and Clegg will follow…
