Kozlowski Fires Under-Par Round in Cold, Wet Conditions

PITTSBURGH – Dealing with cooler temperatures and rain throughout most of the day, Ashley Kozlowski fired a 70 (-1) to lead Purdue Women’s Golf in the second round of the Big Ten Championship. Kozlowski was one of only eight golfers in the field to record an under-par round Saturday at Fox Chapel Golf Club.

On the individual leaderboard, Kozlowski jumped 28 spots on moving day and into a tie for 15th. The Littleton, Colorado, native recorded four birdies, include two on a pair of par 3s. Back-to-back birdies at the seventh and eighth pushed her into red figures for the first time, and she rattled off seven straight pars before a bogey at the difficult par-4 16th. However, Kozlowski immediately got the stroke back with a birdie on No. 17. A par at the last wrapped up her under-par day, the best round for the Boilermakers.

Kan Bunnabodee improved upon her opening round, carding a 76 (+5). Back-to-back double bogeys on the back nine prevented her from having an even better day. She made a team-high 13 pars in the second round.

As a team, Purdue leads the field in par-3 scoring (+9) through two rounds. Four Boilermakers birdied the par-3 third on Saturday.

Despite the tough day that saw the Boilermakers (+35) drop to 12th, they are still within six shots of sixth place with 18 holes remaining to get past the logjam in the middle of the leaderboard. Purdue begins the final round at 8:27 a.m. ET Sunday morning. The Boilermakers will be paired with Minnesota (+36) and Rutgers (+50).
