Women’s Golf Makes Eighth Straight NCAA Regional

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue Women’s Golf learned its postseason destination Wednesday (April 26), watching the selection show for the 2023 NCAA Women’s Golf Championships on Golf Channel. Earning their eighth straight regional berth in the first season under head coach Zack Byrd, the Boilermakers are headed to the Raleigh Regional (May 8-10) at Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Purdue is the No. 9 seed for the regional, which consists of 54 holes of stroke play. The top five teams and the top individual (not on an advancing team) will advance from the regional site to the championships, which will be held for the third straight year at Grayhawk Golf Club (Raptor Course) in Scottsdale, Arizona (May 19-24).

The Boilermakers have reached an NCAA Regional for the 25th time out of the 26 renditions of the NCAA Championships. Purdue advanced to the championship stage 18 of those times, including last season as a No. 8 seed after beating Northwestern in a sudden-death playoff at Stanford. In 2010, the Boilermakers captured the national championship with the second-lowest four-round team score in NCAA Championships history.

Purdue earned a trip to the postseason behind the play of All-Big Ten honoree Momo Sugiyama, ranked No. 77 in Golfstat, and two other Boilermakers ranked in Golfstat’s national rankings in Ashley Kozlowski (194th) and Danielle du Toit (218th). Kan Bunnabodee, a 2021 First Team All-Big Ten golfer, returned from injury to play in all seven spring tournaments for the Boilermakers, while Jocelyn Bruch competed in the lineup nine times to contribute to Purdue’s success throughout the season.
