STANFORD, Calif. – Junior Sam Sommerhauser fired a team-best final round of 2-under par in Sunday’s final round of the 2023 Pac-12 Championships as No. 18 Arizona Men’s Golf finished in 7th place at 14-under as team. Chase Sienkiewicz, who carded the Wildcats’ best rounds during the first two days, ended his week in the Bay Area in a tie for eighth place at 4-under.
“It was a challenging day out there as we carded our worst round, but we were one of 11 teams not to break par today,” said head coach Jim Anderson. “We weren’t able to ride our momentum from the previous two days. Hats off to Sam for grinding out his best round of the week today and to Chase for capping the championships with a strong top-10 showing. Next up is the NCAA Selection Show on Monday, and I know our team is excited to get back out there for NCAA Regionals.”
The top-10 finish at Stanford Golf Course this week marked Sienkiewicz’s best career finish at the Pac-12 Championships in his three appearances in the event. It was also the fourth top-10 finish of his senior season and 10th of his career.
Sommerhauser gave Arizona a second top-30 showing at Pac-12 Championships as the junior finished tied for 30th at 3-over.
Arizona will learn its postseason destination during Wednesday’s NCAA Selection Show on Wednesday at 10 a.m. (MST) on the Golf Channel. The Wildcats will be sent to one of six NCAA Regional sites with Bear’s Best Las Vegas in Nevada and The Institute in Morgan Hill, California being the only western locations.
