USC sophomore Jackson Rivera and freshman Mahanth Chirravuri are headed to the NCAA Regional Championships as individual entries, assigned to the Morgan Hill (Calif.) Regional, part of the NCAA Men’s Golf Championships announcements made Wednesday (May 3).

This is the second straight season that Rivera has earned an NCAA individual berth while Chirravuri will be making his debut.

While USC did not qualify for regionals as a team, the Trojan duo will be part of the 13-team, 10-individual regional at the The Institute G.C. in Morgan Hill set for May 15-17 and hosted by San Jose State. Chirravuri is seeded fifth among the individuals, Rivera is seeded ninth.

The low individual on a team not advancing out of each of the six regional sites will advance to the 2023 NCAA Championships, set for May 26-31 at Grayhawk G.C. in Scottsdale, Ariz.

A year ago, Rivera finished one shot out of a playoff for the individual NCAA berth.

Chirravuri leads USC in stroke average (71.95), rounds of par or better (18), top 25 finishes (eight) and has been USC’s top finisher a team-best six times. He is second on the team in rounds under par (11) and rounds in the 60s (eight).

Chirravuri made his Trojan debut with a tie for 11th at the Husky Invitational, still his season best, and also posted a pair of ties for 20th in the fall. He is currently riding a streak of three straight top 24 results.

Rivera has been a two-time winner this season and leads USC in rounds under par (13) and in the 60s (nine). He is second in stroke average (72.14), rounds of par or better (16) and in top 25 finishes (four).

Rivera opened the season with a four-stroke win at the Husky Invitational at 8-under 208 (67-70-71). He later earned co-champion honors at the Arizona N.I.T. at Tucson Omni National at 13-under 203 (69-67-67).

The field in Morgan Hills includes No. 1 Pepperdine, No. 2 Florida State, 3. Mississippi State, 4. Arizona, 5. Louisville, 6. Baylor, 7. Missouri, 8. BYU, 9. North Carolina State, 10. California, 11. Charlotte, 12. Grand Canyon and 13. Northern Colorado.
