GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Nine Atlantic Coast Conference men’s golf teams earned a bid to the 2023 NCAA Regionals, announced Wednesday on GOLF Channel.
It marks the 16th time in the last 17 years of NCAA competition that at least eight ACC teams earned a regional bid.
North Carolina earned a No. 1 seed in the Salem (South Carolina) Regional and will be joined at The Cliffs at Keowee Falls by ACC champion and No. 2 seed Georgia Tech and No. 9 seed Clemson. UNC is one of six teams to advance out of regionals in each of the previous five NCAA Tournaments.
Florida State drew the No. 2 seed in the Morgan Hill (California) Regional and will be joined at The Institute Golf Club by No. 5 seed Louisville and No. 9 NC State.
Virginia is headed to the Las Vegas Regional as the No. 3 seed. The regional berth marks the 26th time since 1990 the Cavaliers have competed in postseason play.
ACC runner-up Wake Forest snared the No. 5 seed in the Norman (Oklahoma) Regional. It marked an ACC record 47th time that the Deacons have qualified for the NCAA Championships. Duke will also compete at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club as the No. 6 seed.
In addition to the ACC’s nine team representatives, Notre Dame’s Palmer Jackson will compete in the Bath (Michigan) Regional field as a No. 4 individual seed, while teammate Nate Stevens will be seeded ninth.
Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted to determine the 30 qualifying teams and six individuals not on those qualifying teams who will compete in the finals.
The finals are May 26-31 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
