HOVLAND’S ANALYSIS
“We did a great job of taking advantage of certain holes and kept our composure through the tough stretch to put ourselves inside the cut line after round one, said head coach Kelly Hovland. “We need that same effort and focus for two more days and I can accept wherever that puts us on the leaderboard.”
REGIONALS INFO
Athens is one of six Regionals sites around the country. All six regional sites have 12 teams and six individuals competing. The top five teams (30 teams total) and the low individual not on an advancing team (six individuals total) from each regional site, 156 student-athletes total, will advance to play in the national championships to be played May 19-24 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
The Terps are in NCAA Regionals as a team for the first time under Kelly Hovland‘s tenure as head coach and sixth all-time as a program. Patricie Mackova is competing in the regional event for the second season in a row after earning an individual bid to the Albuquerque Regional just a year ago, where she finished in a tie for 25th at the University of New Mexico Championship Course.
