PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State women’s golf fifth-year senior Darcy Habgood opened the 2023 NCAA Pullman Regional by carding 2-under 70 in the first round of play at Palouse Ridge Golf Club, as she ended Monday, May 8, in a tie for 18th on the player leaderboard.
Habgood, who is participating in the NCAA Pullman as an individual, opened play on her home course by shooting under par in a round for the seventh time this season. Habgood carded even par through her first nine holes of play after getting her day started on the 10th tee box at Palouse Ridge. The Nambucca Heads, Australia native posted eight-consecutive pars between holes 18 and 7 before concluding the first round with back-to-back birdies on holes 8 and 9 to finish at 2-under 70.
The fifth-year senior will open Tuesday’s second round in a tie for 18th on the player leaderboard, just six shots off the lead. Habgood will tee off Tuesday’s second round at the 10th tee box at 8:55 a.m. PT.
No. 1-ranked Stanford holds a five-stroke lead over No. 13-ranked Southern California after 18 holes of play at Palouse Ridge. The Cardinal head into Tuesday’s second round with a team score of 267 (-21). Stanford’s Rose Zhang and Sadie Englemann are tied for the lead on the player leaderboard at the end of the first round, as each Cardinal golfer sits at 8-under 64.
The second round of the 2023 NCAA Pullman Regional gets underway this Tuesday, May 9. Play from Palouse Ridge begins at 8 a.m. PT. Fans can follow all the action via live results at GolfStat.com.
