» Michigan posted a final-round 289 (+1) to close ninth (866, +2) at the NCAA Westfield Regional, played at the Club at Chatham Hills. Not finishing among the top five, the Wolverines have finished their season.

» With a three-day total of 212 (-4), Monet Chun led the Wolverines tying for 13th.

» Hailey Borja’s 213 (-3) total gave U-M two Wolverines among the top 20 as she tied for 17th.

WESTFIELD, Ind. — Highlighted by a pair of top-20 finishes from junior Monet Chun (t-13th) and senior Hailey Borja (t-17th), the 44th-ranked University of Michigan women’s golf team tallied a 289 (+1) final-round total Wednesday (May 10) to finish ninth with an 866 (+2) 54-hole total at the NCAA Westfield Regional played at the Club at Chatham Hills. Not finishing among the top-five teams, the Wolverines have closed their 2022-23 season.

Competing in its third straight NCAA regional, U-M began the postseason battle with a five-under-par 283 on Monday to position itself among the top three. A second round 294 on Tuesday (May 9) slipped the Wolverines to eighth as they found themselves trailing by six shots for a top-five position. Michigan improved with a final-round 289 (+1), but missed the cut for the NCAA Finals by 11 shots after an 866 (+2) total.

Advancing out of the Westfield Regional were regional champion No. 5 Mississippi State (845, -19), Oregon State (847, -17), No. 17 Vanderbilt (848, -16), No. 25 Virginia (849, -15) and No. 36 Tulsa (855, -9).

As they had done all season, Chun and Borja paced the Maize and Blue and it was no different in regional play. After matching each other with tallies of 70 (-2) and 71 (-1) over the first 36 holes, Chun edged Borja with a closing 71 (-1), paced by four birdies.
