Freshman Mahanth Chirravuri fired a final-round 3-under 69 while sophomore Jackson Rivera turned in a 2-under 70, each finishing in the top 20 to close their 2023 seasons at the NCAA Morgan Hill (Calif.) Regional at the Institute G.C., on Wednesday (May 17).
Chirravuri finished tied for 15th at 2-over 218 (70-79-79) while Rivera tied for 20th at 4-over 220 (70-80-70), both outside of the running for the individual berth to the NCAA Championships that were on the line.
Rivera’s round was his team-best 15th under par while Chirravuri’s 69 was his team-best 20th round of par or better and left him tied with Rivera for a team-best nine rounds in the 60s this season.
It was Chirravuri’s team-best ninth top 25 finish and seventh top 20. For Rivera, it was his fifth top 20 finish, including four in the last five.
It was also Rivera’s second straight top 20 finish at a regional after tying for 10th as a freshman.
Chirravuri opened play at 1-over through 4 but birdied 7 and 9 to turn under par and finished the final nine holes at 2-under for his 69.
Rivera went out at 3-under and was 4-under through 11 before finishing his day at 2-under.
