Slobodnik-Stoll Named to Watch List for WGCA Coach of the Year

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State head women’s golf coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll was selected to the Watch List for the 2022-23 Division I Jackie Steinmann Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Coach of the Year.

The award will be announced after medal play at this weekend’s NCAA Championship in Arizona.

Recognized as the highest annual coaching honor in women’s collegiate golf, the Jackie Steinmann WGCA National Coach of the Year is awarded annually to the top coach in Division I, II III and NAIA women’s golf. The recipient is selected by a prestigious collection of women’s collegiate golf coaches who follow criteria that has been established to identify the top head coach for the past year.

In her 26th season as the head coach at her alma mater, Slobodnik-Stoll guided the Spartans to a win at last week’s NCAA Palm Beach Regional at PGA National in Palm Beach, Fla.  It was the first regional win in program history and sophomore Brooke Biermann finished as the co-medalist, becoming the highest finisher at a regional in MSU history.

Slobodnik-Stoll has guided Michigan State to 23 NCAA Regional appearances and the Spartans will make their 12th NCAA Championship appearance under her guidance.

Michigan State begins play on Friday, May 19 in the first round of the NCAA Championship at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. The Spartans tee off at 10:05 a.m. (PT), playing alongside Georgia and Texas Tech.
