Cabe Waters Named Women’s Golf Assistant Coach

Columbia, Mo. – After helping lead Georgia Southern to its most successful run in team history, Cabe Waters has joined the Mizzou women’s golf program as assistant coach.

Waters spent two seasons with the Eagles as an assistant coach, helping the school reach new heights. Joining a team that won two titles in its first six seasons as a program, Georgia Southern claimed six tournament championships in his two years on campus. Highlighting the run was the winning the 2022 Sun Belt Championship – the first in program history – and advancing to the NCAA Regional, where it placed seventh at Florida State.

Georgia Southern also claimed three individual titles with Waters on the staff, while carding eight of the 10 lowest rounds in program history. Overall, the Eagles set school records for team tournament score, individual tournament score and lowest team round during his two years on campus.

“I would like to thank Coach Westrup for this opportunity,” Waters said. “She has a great vision for this program, a vision that I want to be a part of. I know the best is yet to come and I am excited to start building new relationships with this team. Mizzou is a special place and I can’t wait to get to work.” 

“I am super excited to add Cabe as my new assistant coach,” said Mizzou head coach Caroline Westrup. “Cabe has all the qualities that I’m looking for in an assistant and most importantly, he shares my vision for the program. Cabe has had a lot of success already as an assistant and we’re looking forward to adding his experience at Mizzou. We’re all very excited to have him here in Columbia soon.”

Prior to his time at Georgia Southern, Waters spent four years at his alma mater, Limestone University, as an assistant men’s and women’s golf coach. During his tenure on the coaching staff, the Saints won 17 tournament titles and three conference championships, while advancing to five NCAA regionals with two National Championship Match Play appearances. During the 2021 championship, the Limestone women’s program finished first in the stroke play championship and earned the No. 1 overall seed for match play.

In his four seasons as a Limestone assistant coach, Waters worked with 27 all-conference selections, three conference Players of the Year, two Jack Nicklaus Award semifinalists and 11 WGCA/PING All-Americans.
